Monica Thompson is a textile artist interested in combining imagery with her love of pattern and color through pieced and stitched hand-dyed fabrics. She has exhibited in solo and juried group exhibitions throughout Montana and the northwest, including the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, the Montana Museum of Art and Culture, and the Yellowstone Art Museum. She studied Graphic Design and Fibers at The University of Michigan, and Textiles at the Penland School of Crafts, where she was awarded the Edwina Bringle Scholarship for a student showing excellence in textiles. In 2025 her work was featured in The New York Times as “art to see” at museums and galleries across the United States. Monica lives and works in Missoula, Montana with her husband and children. She teaches elementary school art in the Missoula County Public Schools, and was voted the Pacific Region Elementary Art Teacher of the Year for 2026 by the National Art Education Association.
